So, our discussion topic for this week is: "Would you prefer to live by yourself, with friends, with strangers, or with your family?" As for myself, I have experienced all 4 situations. Personally, I think I'd prefer to live with a friend or partner, because I get a bit lonely living by myself. I like the freedom of living by one's self, and sometimes living with someone else means we can't do what we like when we like. But, I think that if both people respect eachother's privacy and desires, than it can be quite good. I wouldn't like to live with my family anymore, because I'm used to living by my own rules and schedule now. And also, if I lived with my family, I think I'd become lazy!! And living with a complete stranger is not for me. I lived with a friend's friend (not a complete stranger, mind you) for about 6 months when I was a university student, and we had so many troubles!! Although I do think 2 strangers can become the best of friends after living with each other, I personally wouldn't like to try this again.Anyway, that's my 2 cents. Let's hear what you think! I read your contribution and was surprised to know you have experienced all 4 situations. You have lots of experience, don't you?
Anyway, personally, I never chose any type of living but living by myself because I must be tired to live with other people even if it was my close friend. Of couse, I have times feeling lonely, then I'll stay at a fiend's house or invite. I find that's the best way to live comfortably. I think it is not good for me to live with my family now with the same reason as Kris'. I'll live with them when they get more old.

Actually, I find it interesting that you say you'd like to live with your parents when they get older. I always think that it must be difficult to re-adjust to living with your parents after you've become used to living by yourself for so long. But I think most parents would appreciate their children living with them when they get older, because it must be lonely for them to live alone, especially after they retire.

I like to live by myself because I can do whatever and whenever I like. I think that to make own time is very important. Especially It's good chance to stand on my own feet.
When I feel lonely, I can call my funny friends.
Anyway, I never feel lonely because I'm twenty years old!! I'm adult!! Adult people have something special.

Actually I wanted to live with my family before I came here because I didn't like housework stuff.
But now, I like to live by myself. To do everything by myself, like, cooking, cleaning and washing is really good way to be independent. And I can do what I want to do anytime I want. This is a big reason why I want to live by myself. If I live with my friends, I can't do this.
So I'd prefer to live by myself.

I wanted to live by myself before becase I hate to be interfered by my family. However, I prefer living with my family now. These days, my parents little interfere in my schedule. And I have to save money to buy a car, so I don't want to use money for other things as much as I can.

I think I want to live by myself. I commute from a home to the university
by train. It takes about an hour thirty. It's too waste! If I have time longer in the morning, I can spend slowly. Also, I have my life style as you have. It is quit different from my familys'. I don't
want to bother them. Therefor, I want to live by myself.

I prefer living with my family because I'm lazy. I thought I wanted to live by myself before I became a university student. But, I realized I relied on my family very much. For example, I thought it was natural for me to have my mother cook. I want to eat the dishes of my mother every day! So, I look forward to the cooking of my mother whenever I return to my hometown. Of course I help her. I gradually wanted to return to my house(not Shimonoseki).

Actually, I like live by myself better than live with other people. I have two reasons. First, it is troublesome for me to live with the other people, because I have to keep on my toes. Second, I like spending by myself and think it important for me. These days, I spend a lot of time on spending by myself, thinking various things, hobby and study. For these reasons, I like live by myself better than live with other people.

I think I like to live with my family because it's a careless life and I'm lazy.But,my town is too inconvenient!! For example,
supermarket,drugstore and restaurant are so far from my house. It takes 10 minutes by car, 20 minutes by bicycle and 30 minutes by on foot.
Anyway,I don't have driver's license,so I have to go there by mother's car. It's big deal for me!!

It seems that our class is broken into two groups: those who prefer to live by themselves, and those who prefer to live with their families.
Hiroko, Yuji, Fumiko and Ryuji said they prefer to live by themselves because it helps them to become independent, and because it also allows them freedom. I totally agree. Living by oneself can be great because you can do whatever you want, whenever you want!!
Mika also said that she'd prefer to live on her own... but for a different reason... so she can live closer to uni and cut down on her commute time. I totally understand how you feel Mika!! When I was in my first and second years of university I travelled to uni everyday from my parent's house... and it took 2 hours one way... 4 hours everyday!! It was horrible... very tiring. I could enjoy a lot more free time when I moved closer to university. But as you say Mika... it costs a lot of money to live alone.
On the other hand Yui, Ayaka and Tomoe said that they'd prefer to live with their families. Yui and Ayaka were very honest and admitted that they are a bit too lazy to live by themselves, and that they rely on their family a lot!! Tomoe said that she's now used to living with her family, although she didn't like it before. I guess we all change as we get older.

I'm sorry for being late for answering.
Personally,I like to live by myself because I can become independent and have a lot of free time.I think it's very important to do everything all on my own.
Mostly I don't feel alone because I have funny friends!
